Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
CM Mamata Banerjee demonstrated a humane gesture on Thursday as she made unscheduled stops during her morning convoy from Kalighat to the State Secretariat Nabanna in Kolkata. At around 10:30 AM, Banerjee noticed people braving the cold without winter clothes, prompting her to personally distribute warm clothing, including blankets, to those in need.
The CM's spontaneous acts of kindness occurred at three locations, including Bhavani Bhawan, Alipur Pass, and Alipore Zoo, where she engaged with individuals, especially women, involved in roadside work. The Chief Minister himself got down from the car and gave winter clothes to MGNREGA unpaid poor on the roadside.
According to sources, the CM's convoy passes through this route daily and she often sees people working on the roadside. Seeing them, the Chief Minister felt that some winter clothes should be handed over to them. With this in mind, she herself brought a blanket with her while leaving the house on Thursday.
